Special Interest Groups
The goal of EFFoST is to promote the practical application of the results of research and development anywhere in the food chain. It is, however, not just the technical application that EFFoST cares about, but also the way of application, taking into account that the products reaching the consumer should be healthy and safe. In addition, production of food should be sustainable, requiring minimising waste, energy consumption, transport and packing materials, and optimal use of raw materials (produce). Further, EFFoST has set as an important objective to use science and technology to work towards nutrient security for all people on our planet. Self-evidently, EFFoST supports the Budapest decleration of IUFoST.
To ascertain that the above is not just lip service, EFFoST has set up and continues to set up Special Interest Groups (SIGs). These groups are led by passionate Chairs who want to see progress in areas of their expertise. The SIGs are empowered to act on behalf of EFFoST to work towards specific goals and the EFFoST Executive Committee provides support, in kind and financially, as possible within the constraints of the EFFoST budget.
To join a SIG, contact the Chair of the SIG or the EFFoST office. If you would like to propose a new SIG, contact either the EFFoST office or one of the EFFoST officers.
