31st EFFoST International Conference: research and innovation to face the 21st challenges in food

The EFFoST International Conference is the annual food science & technology event that brings together world-renowned researchers, policy makers, professionals and students from multidisciplinary fields. The 31st edition of the EFFoST International Conference will be held from November 13 - 16.

The theme of this year’s conference is "Food Science and Technology Challenges for the 21st Century - Research to Progress Society" and will explore solutions to current and future (social and economic) challenges in regards to food and nutrition.

 

Connecting people and disciplines

The EFFoST International Conference has a long tradition in providing a high profile platform for the broad spectrum of food research and innovation – ranging from food packaging to micro-biology – and bringing the professionals in these disciplines together. To continue the strong tradition of previous conferences, EFFoST has arranged a strong line-up of speakers for this year’s edition – including guests from academia, industry and policymaking.

 

The program of the 31st EFFoST International Conference will include various key-note speeches and selected oral presentations, poster presentations and workshops on specific topics. It will provide academics and professionals in the industry, government and NGOs who rely on scientific input with the latest insights, methods, technologies and policies regarding the great food and nutrition challenges of our time.

 

Line-up of speakers

The list of speakers includes well recognized scientists among others Dr. Harry Aiking (VU Amsterdam) who will talk about the transition to a sustainable protein supply and, Professor Stefan Palzer, Director of Nestlé Research Center, who will elaborate on current and future developments in food processing. The conference will also provide a platform for the EU’s ‘Food 2030’ policy dialogue and has invited Dr. Wim Haentjens to share the latest developmenst regarding European food policy. The stars of tomorrow

Supporting the next generation of researchers and professionals in food research and innovation has always been a focus of EFFoST. The conference will provide a platform for promising young talents by giving them the opportunity to present their work to the European community of food researchers and professionals. Additionally, the conference will host the ‘Young Scientist Award’ in collaboration with GNT and the ‘Student of The Year Award’ in collaboration with Cargill.

 

Gastronomy

The program of the conference will also include a gastronomy section with guests such as Professor Arboleya of the ‘Basque Culinary Center’, Daniel Lasa of two-star restaurant ‘Mugaritz, Heloise Vilaseca of three-star restaurant ‘El Celler de Can Roca’ and Jozef Youssef of Kitchen Theory.
