New hub for young scientists and professionals working in Food Science!

September 05, 2018

Young EFFoST is a group recently created for and by students, early-career food scientists, and food professionals. The first meeting will be held in Nantes (France), just before the 32nd EFFoST Conference, on Monday 5 November 2018.

The start of a career is full of challenges such as building a network and a strategy for the future. Young food scientists also need to respond to the societal challenges of Food Science, such as increasing food safety and security, decreasing food-related health diseases, and managing the transition towards a more sustainable society. In an effort to help overcome restraints and barriers in the field of Food Science, Young EFFoST has been created with the support of EFFoST.

The main objective of Young EFFoST is to improve networking, support developing personal and/or professional skills, and help young scientists acquire knowledge related to food science. Through this group, young scientists will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with experienced food scientists from academic research and the food industry worldwide.

The first meeting of Young EFFoST will held on the 5 November 2018 in Nantes. It will focus on the young food scientist’s career in Europe.

After enjoying a light lunch, the official afternoon programme will commence by addressing several topics following the life cycle of typical food science projects: starting from finding European funding opportunities, continuing with achieving research results, and concluding with communication strategies to share findings within the scientific community and the general public. In the evening, all the participants will meet at the Art Museum of Nantes for an informal cocktail dinner. The gathering of Arts, Foods, and Scientists will provide a perfect opportunity to build your network and to connect with experienced scientists!

On the behalf of the organizing committee, we look forward to meeting you in Nantes!
