European Bioeconomy workshop is looking for young researchers to join their panel

INRA, IRSTEA and IFPEN are organizing a European workshop on the bioeconomy in Paris on October 29 and 30, 2019. This symposium will bring together public and private research stakeholders engaged in the bioeconomy to share their visions, approaches and experiences.

The following topics will be discussed at the European Bioeconomy workshop:

  • Towards a circular urban bioeconomy: the challenge of closing the loops
  • Sustainable production of bio resources: an environmental challenge
  • Bioengineering serving the innovative bioeconomy
  • Citizen involvement in bioeconomy strategies: understanding their perceptions and motivations to facilitate the transition


The bioeconomy has been present in research agendas for a number of years and all sustainable development policies suggest that the bioeconomy will remain important in future European and national programs. Students and young researchers will be major players in researching this field. Therefore, they are invited to join the workshop panel to share their thoughts on the proposals and questions heard at this event.

They will be invited to participate in this workshop to:

  • give their opinions on bioeconomy research questions
  • how to move from interdisciplinary issues to disciplinary work? Visa Versa
  • How else to think "out of the box"?
  • what reactions to the social project they are drawing?
  • participate in the round tables
  • contribute to writing a report with the objective to publish

INRA, IRSTEA and IFPEN are looking for 12 young researchers and student who meet the following criteria:

  • 35 years old or younger
  • Strong interest in sustainable development in the bioeconomy,
  • Ability to speak English
  • Foreign nationalities are as much expected as French ones, to widen the routes and countries of origin and thus highlight training needs and new professions.

Travel expenses will be covered for all panel members. The organizing committee will select twelve students / young researchers from the submitted proposals. These panel members will be brought up to speed during a preparatory half-day before the workshop.
