The 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Prof. Marc Hendrickx!

November 17, 2022

Last week, EFFoST President Hugo de Vries presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Prof. Marc Hendrickx for his longstanding and continued contribution to the field of Process structure-function relations.

Prof. Marc Hendrickx received the EFFoST Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 in recognition of his outstanding leadership, vision, and pioneering efforts in research on the understanding and quantification of process structure function relations of food systems during processing and preservation with a focus on mechanisms and kinetics.

During the awards ceremony of the 36th EFFoST International Conference, Marc Hendrickx took the opportunity to thank his team who have supported him to reach great heights in his field of expertise.

Prof. Marc Hendrickx biography
Currently Prof Hendrickx is a full professor Faculty of Bioscience Engineering and the Head Laboratory of Food Technology at KU Leuven in Belgium. In addition, he is the program director of the POC Food Technology - Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, a member of the steering committee of LFoRCe (Leuven Food and Nutrition Research Centre) and co-director of the international Inter-University Program in Food Technology (IUPFOOD). The research of professor Hendrickx focuses on the understanding and quantification of process structure function relations of food systems during processing and preservations with a focus on mechanisms and kinetics. Prof. M. Hendrickx has been involved in 15 multi-partner large-scale EU funded projects (in the fields of thermal processing, high-pressure processing and pulsed electric field processing), of which 6 as a coordinator. Recently, he has been a key scientist and member of the management board of NovelQ, High-Tech-Europe and HST FoodTrain
