Highlights from Young EFFoST Day 2024

The 7th edition of Young EFFoST Day took place on November 14, wrapping up the 38th EFFoST International Conference. This event brought together young students and professionals, making it a great opportunity to learn, share ideas, and connect.

A special shoutout to Tom Hellemans (Vandemoortele), Stefan Toepfl (ELEA), Nadia Lapage (FEVIA), and Caroline Vercauteren (BonMush) for their inspiring presentations. They covered a wide range of topics, from breakthroughs in sustainable food production to innovative ideas in product development, food safety, and nutrition. Their expertise and passion made the event both insightful and impactful, leaving attendees with valuable takeaways that will continue to shape the future of the food industry.

The day continued with the engaging Workshop on “Science Communication and Pitching”, hosted by The Floor Is Yours. This interactive session provided invaluable strategies for effectively engaging diverse audiences and ensuring that scientific research resonates beyond the academic sphere.

The workshop’s interactive elements truly brought the subject to life, emphasizing the critical role of clear communication in the scientific community and beyond. Attendees left with practical skills to better present and share their research, ensuring their work reaches a broader audience with greater impact. 

Young EFFoST Day 2024 was a day full of learning, inspiration, and great discussions. It highlighted the importance of working together, thinking creatively, and sharing knowledge to shape the future of the food industry.

The 8th edition of the Young EFFoST Day will be held in Porto, Portugal on 17 November 2025, before the official start of the 39th EFFoST International Conference.
