What we collect
When you sign up for one of the EFFoST services, we will require you to provide personal data by completing a form.
We will collect your name and email address to identify and communicate with you. For some services, we may collect your postal address and telephone number in order to provide adequate service.
We may collect information about your education, organization, job title and qualifications to assess your suitability for our membership and awards and to ensure that we are covering topics that are of interest for your professional development.
When you visit our website, we may collect the length of your visit, page views, geographical location, browser type and other information relating to your visit (using cookies) to enable us to monitor traffic and make improvements to our websites. See our Cookies policy for more information.
What we do with the information we gather
We use your personal data to keep you informed about relevant news, events, awards, competitions and other services. This information is in pursuit of our vision, ambition and aims, which is the enhancement of food science and technology to guarantee availability and access to food for coming generations.
We may communicate with you by e-mail, post or telephone. Users of our website may receive communications via their own personal area on the EFFoST Intranet.
We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to unrelated third-parties.
The names of members and conference delegates may be published on restricted parts of our Intranet that are only accessible to members and conference delegates. Other contact details will only be provided on our Intranet when you give us your consent.
You may opt-out of receiving a chosen communication at any time by following the unsubscribe directions provided (if appropriate), by updating your contact preferences on our websites or by contacting us (email or write to us at the address above).
Legal basis of processing personal information
Personal data will only be used if permission has been given. This permission can be obtained in the following way:
- you have given us your consent;
- you are an EFFoST member, EFFoST conference delegate, award applicant and for this it is necessary to process your personal data;
- your browser accepts functional and analytical cookies (also read our Cookie policy).
How long do we keep your personal information?
We will not keep your personal data longer than necessary. The retention period depends on the purpose for which we have received or collected your data and any legal obligations to retain data. If you have any questions about this, you can contact info@effost.org.
Who has access to your personal data and to whom is it disclosed?
We may disclose your information to our team (employees and volunteers), suppliers, sponsors and/or subcontractors. These include our website providers (Mett, Google Analytics), marketing platform (Mailchimp), and our financial administrators (Zevenblad Subsidiebeheer and Twinfield) as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy. We will only share limited information with our sponsors, for example, sponsors will be informed of the winners of awards and competitions they have financially supported. We have signed a data processing agreement with each of our suppliers and subcontractors to ensure your information is processed securely.
Security
EFFoST will do everything in its power to protect your personal data. For example, appropriate security measures (physical, electronic and managerial) are taken to prevent loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
The EFFoST website uses a reliable SSL certificate so that your data is encrypted before it is transmitted.
