Dear colleagues,
I encourage you all to join us at the 33rd EFFoST International Conference in Rotterdam. This beautiful city is famous for its huge harbour and modern architecture. The European Federation of Food Science and Technology (EFFoST) and Wageningen University and Research (WUR) decided to organize the EFFoST2019 conference here to allow all delegates to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of this city and facilitate the travelling and accommodation.
With this conference, Wageningen University celebrates (with one year of delay) the centennial of its foundation. As you all know, our organization is one of the leading world institutions in the food science domain and the Netherland has a long-standing tradition in pioneering food technology development.
The theme of the 33rd EFFoST International Conference is “Sustainable Food Systems: Performing by connecting”.
The transition towards a more sustainable food supply system is critical to guarantee access to safe and nutritious food for the future 9.7 billion world inhabitants, to enable a healthy lifestyle of consumers and to reduce the environmental impact of food production and consumption. A cross-disciplinary approach is required to accelerate innovation and implementation
The conference is organized around three main topics:
- Oral processing, digestion and human performance
- Consumer trust, perception and engagement
- Circular food solutions and beyond
As Chair of the 33rd EFFoST International Conference, I have tried, with the help of the local committee, to organize a programme which will address these issues and which, I hope, will meet your expectations.
We hope to see you soon in Rotterdam to share the most recent developments in the area of Food Science and technology!
Best wishes,
Prof. Vincenzo Fogliano
